Our towing company's prices in Woodbridge, NJ: $149 booking fee, $129 online, mileage read out first, nothing added

When one company owns every truck there is only one price list to explain. The booking fee is a fixed number you can read on this page and the mileage is spoken before the truck moves. Roadside work is one price a job, and the businesses of Woodbridge that tow every week get a rate sheet and one invoice.

How a tow is priced

Booking fee plus mileage to the place you name: the whole formula, from every truck in our Woodbridge fleet

Two numbers make up a tow with our company: the flat $149 booking fee ($129 if you book it yourself online) and a per-mile charge from the car to the destination you name, both spoken by the dispatcher before the truck leaves Linden; a winch or dollies is a third number that appears only when the car will not roll or steer and only with your yes.

01

The booking fee: $149 by phone, $129 online

This is what it costs to put a company truck at your location and hook the car up, and it does not change with the clock or the calendar. Let the dispatcher take the booking and the figure is $149; fill in the booking page yourself and the figure is $129.

A car, an SUV or a pickup on a wheel-lift or a flatbed is inside that number. Vans, box trucks, buses and tractors call for a medium or heavy-duty unit, which the dispatcher prices separately and says out loud.

02

The mileage

Measured from where the car is stuck to where you want it, at a per-mile rate. A run from Metropark to a shop on Amboy Avenue, or from Keasbey to a dealer in Perth Amboy, is a short figure.

Beyond the neighboring towns, to the shore, to New York, to Philadelphia, the job becomes a long distance tow and the quote covers the tolls and the empty trip back.

03

Fleet, shop and dealer accounts

The Keasbey and Port Reading logistics operators, the Metropark property managers, the dealers along Route 1 and Route 9 and the Amboy Avenue body shops do not pay job by job. They hold an account with a rate sheet, call a direct line, book scheduled moves for a window and settle one invoice a month.

Opening one takes a single call to dispatch or a note through the contact page.

04

The charges that do not exist here

There is no overnight premium, no Sunday rate, no holiday rate and no fuel line.

There is no hook fee on top of the booking fee, no charge for the person riding in the cab, and no storage or release charge on a car delivered where you asked.

Cash and card cost the same.

Give the dispatcher the pickup, the drop-off and the vehicle, and she reads back the total from one price list.

Jump start, flat tire, lockout and fuel delivery in Woodbridge: one flat price each, from the same drivers

The drivers who tow for us also carry jump packs, lockout tools, a jack and a fuel can, so any of those four jobs in Woodbridge is one flat price without mileage, and the dispatcher sends the smaller job first whenever it stands a chance of solving the problem.

Jump start

Cars, trucks and diesels, from a professional pack. A Metropark deck, the mall's far rows, a Colonia driveway in January. Battery refuses to hold? The tow is added at the flat rate on the spot, since the truck is already beside you.

Flat tire change

Your spare goes on right there, whether that is a Route 35 shoulder, the Avenel station lot or a Keasbey dock. No spare, or two flats at once, and the same truck carries you to the tire shop of your choice at the tow rate.

Car lockout

Keys inside on Oak Tree Road, at Woodbridge Center or in a tower garage at Metropark. Damage-free tools, no broken glass, one flat price.

Fuel delivery

Tank empty on Route 1, Route 9, Route 440 or a Fords side street. Enough gas or diesel arrives to get you to a pump, whatever the hour.

Think it might not need a tow? Say that. The roadside price is the smaller one and we try it first.

Company versus broker

Why a quote from a real Woodbridge towing company looks nothing like a broker's quote

When the company owns the truck, the quote is a fixed fee, a mileage rate to a named address and a receipt with a company name on it; when a broker is in the middle, the quote is an opening bid from a truck the broker has never met, and the real number arrives with the driver.

A middleman with no trucks has no way to know what the truck will charge. So the figure he gives you is chosen to win the call, and the driver revises it at your bumper.

Our dispatcher has the truck on her screen and the driver's name on her board, and she quotes from one list. Three questions sort any quote: how much is the booking fee, what is the per-mile rate and to which address, and what company name will print on the receipt.

After a collision the stakes climb. The rotation truck that turns up without being called hauls the car to a yard that charges by the day, and getting it released can cost more than the tow did.

Phone your own company and name your own body shop and the car never enters that yard. If a roadside plan or an insurer reimburses you, pay the flat price, keep the itemized receipt and send it in.

Ask for the total. It costs nothing to hear, it is flat, and every truck in the fleet charges it.

FAQ

Pricing: common questions

Short answers to what people ask about this page; the dispatcher can answer the rest.

Does $149 cover the whole tow?

It covers getting the truck to you and hooking up. The per-mile charge to your destination is added and spoken before dispatch, and that is the whole receipt unless the car needs a winch or dollies.

Why does booking online cost $129?

You did the dispatcher's typing, so you keep the $20. On a live road, skip the form and call; the phone is faster.

Do warehouses and fleets pay a different rate?

Businesses that tow regularly hold an account with a rate sheet, scheduled windows and a monthly invoice. Dispatch opens one on the first call.

Is there a night or holiday premium?

None. Our own people staff the overnight, so the booking fee and the per-mile rate at 3 a.m. on a holiday match a Tuesday afternoon.

Do you charge storage?

Never on a car delivered to your shop, dealer or driveway, and that is where every tow of ours ends. There is no storage lot to charge for.

Will I get a receipt for my insurer or roadside plan?

Every job ends with an itemized receipt in the company's name that lists the booking fee, the miles and any recovery work, in the format reimbursement desks ask for.

Anything else? Ask on the call.
